This lightweight and compact lens combines state-of-the-art optical design with Sony's highly reliable XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motor technology.
Mounted on a compact mirrorless body, it delivers outstanding image quality in any situation at focal lengths ranging from ultra-wide angle to telephoto.
With an unprecedented zoom range from 20mm ultra-wide angle to 70mm short telephoto, this versatile lens is ideal for capturing photos and video of a wide variety of subjects.
The ultra-wide 20mm end of the zoom range maintains a wide viewing angle when shooting with an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 2.35:1 which narrows the viewing angle.
With two AA (advanced aspherical) elements, one aspherical element, three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, and one ED aspherical element, this state-of-the-art optical design corrects chromatic and spherical aberration for high optical performance on entire frame, from ultra-wide angle 20 mm to 70 mm.
AA (advanced aspherical) elements help achieve a minimum focusing distance of 0.3m (wide angle) to 0.25m (telephoto) for AF, and 0.25m throughout the zoom range with manual focus. Maximum magnification of 0.39x for detailed close-ups.
Close-up focus makes it easy to capture small subjects and helps you find the perfect angle.
The constant F4 maximum aperture offers greater flexibility in choosing apertures at any focal length.
The selected aperture remains constant throughout the zoom range, with no need to apply extreme ISO settings for telephoto and with the ability to take advantage of fast
shutter speeds as necessary to achieve the desired effect.
Two XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors ensure smooth and fast focusing with up to 60% faster AF speed and up to twice the tracking performance, for precise and reliable tracking.
