To obtain the exceptional maximum aperture of F1.4 in a medium telephoto lens, the lens adopts an optical scheme, unusual for a fixed focal length, structured on 17 elements in 12 groups. Three FLD optical glass elements, two SLD optical glass elements and one aspherical lens minimize axial chromatic aberration and provide very high resolution with great peripheral brightness. The in-focus areas are extremely sharp while the out-of-focus areas enjoy a pleasant bokeh with natural colors. This makes this lens the best choice the photographer can make. The optical system also minimizes sagittal flare and makes it very suitable for night sky photography.
