Delivering the latest advances in digital cinema, the V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV Camera combines the strengths of RED DIGITAL CINEMA's V-RAPTOR line with the advanced global shutter of the KOMODO camera. This new flagship DSMC3 camera is the first large-format global shutter and the first to offer RED's Global Vision, a suite of tools that deliver unprecedented flexibility and dynamic range.
The powerful and versatile V-RAPTOR [X] incorporates 8K resolution, a crisp global shutter, and performance Optimal low-light performance and high frame rate capabilities in a compact, feature-packed body weighing just over 1.8 kg.
Standard Large-Format
This new DSMC3 flagship camera is the first large-format global shutter camera and the first to offer RED's Global Vision with a suite of tools that deliver unprecedented flexibility and dynamic range.
Key features shared with the original V-RAPTOR include a lockable Canon RF lens mount, a single CFexpress Type B card slot that supports up to 8K120 capture, and two unique 12G-SDI monitoring outputs.
The V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV also features a redesigned sensor cavity that reduces stray light and improves contrast, as well as improved built-in audio preamps.
Advanced Intelligent Focus
In-camera processing and enhanced on-sensor phase-detection autofocus, combined with face detection, allow the V-RAPTOR [X] to Offering versatility and reliability for all levels of filmmakers.
Global Shutter
The global shutter accurately captures the motion of your subject, no matter how fast it is moving, without the distortion or Jello-like effects sometime found with a rolling shutter.
With the global shutter, you can capture every movement, flash, and shot without compromising image quality, dynamic range, or post-production flexibility.
RED Global Vision
With the V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV, RED introduced its suite of Global Vision tools, which utilize the global shutter sensor to offer even greater flexibility and ease of use throughout the production process.
These tools include Extended Highlights to increase detail, producing more refined HDR finishes or smoother, more subtle highlight roll-offs when using SDR. Extended Highlights also offers over 3 stops of additional dynamic range, maintaining color and detail even within extreme highlights.
