Glensound Rack Mount 8 Channel Dante/SDI embedder de-embedder
The Charon 8R1 is a very simple 3G-SDI audio embedder/de-embedder.
- Incoming 3G-SDI has signal has audio channels 1-8 de-embedded. These are embedded to Dante output channels 1-8
- Incoming Dante channels 1-8 are embedded into 3G-SDI output
There are no controls on the Charon and audio is just passed simultaneously bi-directionally, 1 input to 1 output as above.
This simplicity of operation is intentional for situations where basic 3G-SDI audio embed/de-embed functions are required without the excess functions of other units that inevitably cost more.
Network connections are fully redundant with primary and seconday connections via CAT5 copper Ethernet, or fibre via primary and secondary SFP cages.
At this time, tha Charon is 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M) only, and 6G or 12G are not supported.
The SDI input and output is via 2 x 75ohm unbalanced BNC connectors.
The Charon 8R1 is a 19" rack mount unit with 2 x VAC mains power supplies for redundancy.
