This series includes the Omni 4060, 4061, 4062, 4063, and 4071 miniature microphones.
Each version is dedicated to a specific application based on sensitivity, power supply, and positioning requirements.
All are based on the original 4060, the very first miniature microphone developed by DPA with best-in-class technology previously used only in hearing aid and measurement microphones.
All microphones in the series share important core features, but each is optimized for specific applications.
The series was developed to withstand the most demanding conditions.
They feature a 5.4 mm pre-polarized condenser element with a vertical diaphragm.
This unique dual-venting system makes the microphones extremely resistant to moisture and sweat.
These microphones also use a Kevlar-reinforced cable gland, built to withstand the constant twisting, bending, and tearing that are part of daily use in more demanding applications.
4061 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphone, High SPL
This microphone is acoustically identical to the 4060, but its sensitivity is adapted to withstand higher sound pressure levels (SPL).
The 4061 high-SPL miniature omni microphone can handle peak pressure levels of up to 144 dB before clipping, making it one of the best miniature microphones for use with higher-level sources, such as certain instruments or human voices.
Compared to the 4060, the 4061 is approximately 10 dB less sensitive, making it useful for applications where the microphone is hidden, such as in a performer's hair in a theater.
In this position, the sound pressure level is approximately 10 dB higher than with a chest microphone.
