Among the manufacturers of third-party lenses, in recent years Samyang has been able to build a solid reputation, first with manual focus lenses, also managing to successfully switch to the world of autofocus lenses.
Now the Korean house has launched a novelty in the range of lenses dedicated to mirrorless, full frame and APS-C cameras, from Sony, the new Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 FE II.
Optically we find a scheme of 11 elements in 9 groups, with two aspherical lenses and two HR lenses. Compared to the previous AF 35mm F1.4 FE, this new AF 35mm F1.4 FE II has also been optimized for video shooting, minimizing the vibration and noise of the STM focusing motor. Samyang technicians have also worked to improve the rendering of images in terms of resolution, sharpness and contrast.
The lens weighs 645 grams and has a minimum focusing distance of 29 centimeters. Among the peculiarities, on the lens barrel there is a customizable button, assigned by default to the AF-ON function, but also assignable to functions such as Eye-AF. There is also a two-way switch, which changes the behavior of the ring, assigning it to focus or to adjust the aperture: also in this case the behavior can be customized from the menu.
