4 flare options
The Proteus Flex features a Proteus main body and 4 flare modules, including amber, silver, blue, and clear versions.
By default, the lens is equipped with silver flares.
New Clear Flare
In addition to the colored flare versions, the Proteus Flex includes a new flare coating, Clear Flare, which produces minimal horizontal flare.
This is for DPs who want a cleaner, more elegant look.
Quick and Easy Flare Module Replacement
The flare module can be easily installed, replaced, and screwed onto the Proteus main body.
The user-interchangeable process can be completed in 10 minutes, and no additional optical calibration is required after the swap.
Constant Anamorphic Compression Ratio
Both the anamorphic and spherical groups are fixed, a variable front spherical glass is added to achieve focus.
A similar optical design is used in the Vantage Hawks, Cooke Anamorphic, and Atlas Orion.
With a 2x compression ratio, you'll get a 2.66:1 ratio on a 4:3 sensor and a 2.4:1 ratio on a 6:5 sensor after decompression.
This allows for a crop ratio of 2.39:1, creating a cinematic, ultra-widescreen look, much sought after by the film industry.
The compression ratio remains constant at any focusing distance to avoid anamorphic distortion.
Ultra-bright aperture
Thanks to the T2's bright aperture, Proteus enables low-light shooting, creating a shallow depth of field with a waterfall-like transition into out-of-focus.
