The DPA 6388 CORE+ Directional Headset Microphone is engineered for demanding live environments where speech intelligibility, isolation, and feedback rejection are essential.
Designed for theater, houses of worship, live performances, corporate events, conferences, broadcast, and sports production, it combines DPA's CORE+ capsule technology with an advanced supercardioid design to deliver natural voice reproduction and consistent performance, even in sonically difficult spaces.
Designed for Challenging Acoustic Environments
Unlike omnidirectional headsets that excel in controlled environments, the 6388 is built for situations where ambient noise, audience presence, stage bleed, reflections, or PA feedback can compromise intelligibility. Its advanced directional design provides strong isolation and excellent gain-before-feedback while maintaining natural, authentic voice reproduction.
The supercardioid capsule maintains controlled directivity across the frequency spectrum, including high frequencies, helping achieve predictable off-axis rejection and exceptional gain-before-feedback.
A shifted acoustical axis and partially asymmetrical capsule design allow the microphone to be positioned slightly to the side of the mouth while maintaining optimal pickup, making performance less dependent on precise placement and delivering more consistent results between users.
CORE+ Technology for Clear, Natural Voice Capture
The 6388 features DPA's CORE+ capsule technology, delivering outstanding speech intelligibility with low distortion and consistent tonal balance.
The electret-condenser microphone is optimized for placement approximately 1.2 inches from the corner of the mouth, providing a frequency response of 100 Hz to 18 kHz (±2 dB) with a subtle 1 dB presence boost at 14 kHz for added vocal clarity.
The mic can handle SPLs up to 140 dB SPL RMS and 143 dB SPL peak before producing < 1% distortion.
Even peak levels up to 144 dB SPL produce only 10% distortion, making it well suited to a variety of presenters and performers.
Locking 3.5mm Connector
Compatible Transmitters
Sennheiser: works with Sennheiser wireless transmitters equipped with a locking 3.5mm connector, including the Evolution (ew), XSW-D, and SpeechLine (SL) Series.
The connector is also compatible with a wide range of third-party transmitters and recorders that use a locking 3.5mm connector wired for Sennheiser compatibility.
Comfortable, Flexible Headset Design (Small)
The updated dual-ear Act Headset Frame builds on DPA's proven headset design with improvements that enhance comfort, appearance, and reliability.
Reshaped earhooks with soft, rounded tips provide a more comfortable fit, while increased clip friction helps maintain adjustments during use.
This small version of the headset is designed to provide a more comfortable wearing experience for users with a smaller head.
A slimmer PVD-treated microphone boom, matching frame finish, and transparent clips create a discreet, low-visibility appearance.
The microphone also supports left or right boom placement.
